The carnival of Goa is the most awaited festival which started in the year 1961, reflecting the Portuguese lifestyle. People from different castes and creed celebrate this festival with a lot of hoopla and fanfare. An interesting fact about this festival is that one has to stay away from meat as this Goan festival has derived its meaning from the Latin word 'Carnival', which means 'to throw away meat'. This joyous festival is celebrated before the starting of Lent that is believed to be the time when Lord Jesus spent forty days in the wilderness. Singing, dancing, drinking, and feasting are all are part of this merry festival. Apart from the non-stop festivity, the streets are decorated with vibrant colors and floats. The Sky is the Limit in the Meadow of Flowers

Experience a feeling of sailing through the fluffy white clouds in the Meadow of Flowers-Gulmarg. This hill station popularly known as the ‘Heartland of winter Sports’ is a famous skiing destination and boasts of Asia’s highest and longest cable car project, The Gulmarg Gondola. Get a view of the dazzling ice-kissed snow from the top of the gondola or feel as though you are floating in the magnificent sky at a height of 3995 meters. The two-stage ropeway, ferries around 600 people per hour to and from the Kongdoori Mountain, a shoulder of the nearby Afarwat Peak (4,200) meters. The first stage transfers from the Gulmarg resort at 2,600 m (8,530 ft) to Kongdoori Station in the bowl-shaped Kongdori valley. The second stage of the ropeway, which has 36 cabins and 18 towers, takes skiers to a height of 3,747 m (12,293 ft) on Kongdoori Mountain, a shoulder of nearby Afarwat Peak (4,200 meters). If you visit Gulmarg and do not try your hand and skiing you are missing out on a very thrilling adventure sport. There are two areas for skiing: the high mountain/off-piste areas served by the gondola; and a beginner's area near the hotels sited on the hills of the Gulmarg golf course.
