1. TULIP GARDEN-SRINAGAR

Walk amidst the land of Tulips once you enter the colorful Tulip Garden in Kashmir, Srinagar. As you enter the garden you will find a colorful splash of various awesome Tulips. This garden was conceived, conceptualized and created by Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad, the then Chief Minister, of Jammu and Kashmir. Bring along a picnic mat and basket to enjoy the maximum experience. This garden is the largest garden in Asia spread over an area of about 12 hectares. Two million tulips adorn and add color to 20 acres of the Kashmiri Landscape at 5600 feet altitude in Asia’s largest Tulip Garden.

2. HANGING GARDEN-MUMBAI

The Hanging Gardens of Mumbai also known as the Pherozeshah Mehta Garden serves as a famous tourist attraction to the local Mumbaikars as well as tourists from different cities in India and abroad. Situated on the lush Malabar Hills this garden is known for its magnificent greenery which will definitely be a treat to your sight. An interesting fact about this garden is that it is built on a water reservoir and provides cool and fresh drinking water to locals who live nearby. For those of you who did not know there is a huge old lady’s boot in this garden. The shoe structure is inspired from a nursery rhyme ‘THE OLD LADY LOST HER SHOE’. There is also a floral clock in the center of the garden and you can just relax with the calming view of the Arabian Sea.

3. LAL BAGH GARDEN-BANGALORE

The beautiful Lal Bagh Gardens is the perfect hangout place with your pals or an ideal location for a fun-filled picnic with your family. Located in Southern Bangalore, this garden along with its beauty has a lot more to offer! It houses India’s largest collection of tropical plants and has a popular glass house which hosts an annual flower show every year. You can sit by the lake and watch your children play or admire the marine life as it also has a beautiful aquarium. The Lal Bagh garden was commissioned by Haider Ali and later completed by his son Tipu Sultan. Flower shows are conducted every year during the week of Republic day and Independence Day, to educate people about the variety of flora and develop public interest in plant conservation and cultivation.

4. LODI GARDENS-DELHI

Step into the era of the Mughal’s by visiting one of the most famous and popular gardens in Delhi the Lodi Gardens. It houses the tombs of Sayyid and Lodi dynasty; the Lodi Gardens is popular for its mix of ecology and heritage. It also serves as a green lung for Delhi and is the preferred spot for locals for their daily exercises. The main attractions of the park are the historical tombs. The tomb of the last Sayyid ruler, Mohammad Shah, is the oldest tomb. It was built in 1444 by Ala-ud-din Shah as a tribute to Mohammed Shah. Another attraction of the garden is the tomb of Sikander Lodhi built by his son Ibrahim Lodi. If you are a history lover and are looking for ways to spend your evening a visit to this garden will make your day.

5. PINJORE GARDEN-HARYANA

Enter paradise on earth by visiting the Pinjore Gardens or Yavindra Gardens located in Pinjore Pachkula district in the Indian State of Haryana. It was built by the Patiala Dynasty Rulers and it is an example of the Mughal Gardens style. One can also view the beautiful Shivalik Hills from these gardens. These gardens were planned as a retreat for the Mughal kings who came here with their harems. Each year there is a heritage festival organized here.

6. ROCK GARDEN-CHANDIGARH

Nek Chand’s Rock Garden founded by Mr. Nek Chand is one of the most famous attractions in Chandigarh. It is situated near the Sukahna Lake and is visited by a large number of tourists owing to its popularity. It is an epitome of creativity and innovation, and the most interesting part about this garden is that each of its artwork is made by using industrial and urban waste. The garden houses sculptures made by using a variety of different discarded waste materials like frames, mudguards, forks, handlebars, metal wires, play marbles, porcelain, auto parts, broken bangles etc. So if you want to try out something different and unique from the usual gardens this garden has plenty to offer.

7. SHALIMAR BAGH-KASHMIR

Have you ever wanted to visit a garden described in poems? Shalimar Bagh in Kashmir is exactly like what a poet would describe in his poems. This garden is linked through the northeast of Dal Lake near Srinagar city. The Mogul gardens in the lap of amazingly beautiful Kashmir Valley provide an unparalleled feast to the eye. For a moment, one ceases to think of one's existence and merges into the abundant beauties of Mother Nature. Emperor Jahangir built this magnificent garden to please his queen. It was considered the high point of Mogul horticulture. If you want to spend some special moments with your sweetheart or just want to drink in the beauty of Mother Nature do not forget to visit the Shalimar Bagh in Kashmir.

8. ROCK GARDEN-DARJEELING

While exploring the hilly town of Darjeeling you will come across the Rock Garden also known as Barbotey Rock Garden. As you take the right turn from the main Hill Cart Road of Darjeeling towards the Rock Garden, you know that you are in for nature's treat. In about 25 minutes, this narrow winding downhill road descends by several thousand feet to a valley where the rock garden is located. With sharp bends all the way, there are breathtaking views at many points. Tea gardens dot the hill slopes. If you want to enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature in its best form Rock Garden is a must visit place in Darjeeling.

9. BRINDAVAN GARDENS-MYSORE

One of the most beautiful and picturesque gardens in India is the Brindavan Gardens which is located in Mysore. Visited by close to 2 million tourists per year, the garden is one of the major attractions of Srirangapatna. An orchard is located adjoining this garden adding to its spectacular and jaw-dropping beauty.  It is laid out in 3 terraces which contain water fountains, Ficus trees, foliage plants such as Duranta plumeria and Euphorbia and flowering plants like Celosia, Marigold, and bougainvillea. Admire its beautiful topiary works (sculptures of animals created by clipping shrubs), pergolas (shaded passageway covered by creepers) and gazebos. The main attraction of the park is the musical fountain in which bursts of water are synchronized to the music of songs. A majestic lake dominates the center of the garden, where you can paddle away in the colorful boats.

10. LLOYD’S BOTANICAL GARDEN-DARJEELING

The beautiful Lloyd’s Botanical Garden located in Darjeeling preserves several species of bamboo, oak, magnolia, Arisaema, cotoneaster, wild geranium, and rhododendron forest native plants of the Darjeeling Himalayan hill region, Sikkim region, and other neighboring regions. It also preserves some of India’s most exotic plants and the Cacti and succulent collection of 150 species are displayed in the Conservatory. The collection of native Orchids from the Singalila Ridge in present-day Singalila National Park is rare and notable.
