Kashid

Introduction:

Kashid is a beach town on the shores of Arabian Sea, in the North Konkan region of Maharashtra, India. Kashid is popular mainly because of its white sand, blue seas, green mountains, paddy fields, and rivulets. Kashid has a 3 km stretch of beach tucked in between two rocky hillocks with Casuarina groves all around the seashore. This is by far the best beach in this part of the Konkan region and though absolutely deserted on weekdays, the town can attract its fair share of week-end holiday makers. There are a few of small hotels in Kashid as the rest of the area is privately owned. Murud is a taluka, city and a municipal council in Raigad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Situated at a distance of 42 km. fromAlibag, Murud is fast becoming a hot tourist destination with equal number of tourists choosing to stay in and around Murud. While entering Murud you come across the Palace of Nawab on the left had side of the road. You can see the Palace only from outside as the palace is still owned by the descendants of the Nawab and is a private property.

Phansad Bird Sanctuary:
A splendid place for nature lovers, Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary has one of the densest populations of wildlife. Though the sanctuary boasts of several species of fauna including leopards, it is more known for its 150 species of birds, both resident and migratory. The migratory birds visit the sanctuary during November-January.

Revdanda Fort:
Located about 14 km from Kashid, the fort, was built by Portuguese. From the fort, visitors get to see views of Korlai fort.

Janjira Fort:
Located about 21 km from Kashid, the Murud-Janjira fort was one of the strongest marine forts in India. The fort was the capital of the Siddis who ruled the princely state of Murur-Janjira. The fort's main gate faces Rajapuri and can be seen only when one is quite close to it. It has a small gate which opens to the sea and was used for escape.

Datta Mandir:
Built by Swami Bramhendra in honour of Shree Datta; the Datta mandir is situated at a distance of about 18 km from Kashid. You need to trek to reach the temple as it is located at a hilltop. The temple can also be reached via motorable road. The temple is a good place to view the sunset.

One can shop only food items like different kind of Masala's etc. As, this place is famous for spices.
