Introduction:

A sacred site that reminds one about the playful tricks of young Krishna, Vrindavan, on the holy banks of Yamuna reverberates the bounciness and youthful merriments of Lord Krishna with the gopikas. The name 'Vrindavan' is a derivative of the term 'Vrinda', which is akin to Tulsi plant that grows profusely throughout the length and breadth of the city. Legend says that the entire surroundings were a tulsi coppice at one time. Some others believe that the term Vrindavan stands for Vrinda Devi, one among the milkmaids.

Gokulnanda Temple:
Gokul Nanda temple in Vrindavan is an ancient temple that holds the idols of Radha-Vinoda of Lokanatha Gosvami, the bigger deities of Vijaya Govinda of Baladeva Vidyabhusana and the Radha-Gokulnanda deities of Viswanath Chakravarti. It also holds a Govardhana shila, which contains thumbprint of Lord Chaitanya. It is believed that Lord Chaitanya gave this shila to Raghunath Dasa Gosvami.

Gopishvar Mahadev Temple:
Gopishvar stands for Lord Siva who is regarded as the redeemer of the gopis. Pouring holy waters of Yamuna on the Shiva Lingam is the main ritual in the temple. The papal tree on the temple premises is believed to be the fulfiller of all the wishes and regarded as a Kalpha Vrisha by the devotees.

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is a worldwide confederation that aims to promote the welfare of society by providing the science of Krishna's awareness in accordance with Vedic scriptures and Bhagavad-Gita. The temple upholds rich traditions and follows rituals and customs very strictly in accordance with the scriptures. Every day six aaratis and 6 bhoga offerings are offered to the deities. The deities change their garments twice daily. All festivals of Sri Krishna are celebrated with much enthusiasm, which offers a great sense of spiritual awakening and ethereal feeling to the devotees.
